Gene juggernaut

Article Abstract:

Gene technology is fast becoming a growing field that may bring many changes to Australian way of farming and growing crops. Farmers are unhappy with such changes because what they grow on the fields could be reproduced elsewhere through gene technology. It is estimated that the area where genetically engineered crops grow increased to fourfold between 1996 and 1997. Supporters of gene technology believe the technology is needed to feed the growing world population.
