Irishman Sean Doran takes over as director of the Festival of Perth for the 2000 event. Outgoing director David Blenkinsop is retiring after his 23rd consecutive year. Doran made the Belfast, Ireland, festival popular by inviting younger artists like the Talking Heads' David Byrne and songwriter Nick Cave, and he plans to bring his non-elitist style to the Perth Festival.
