Health study proposes a tax on fat

Article Abstract:

A new study, which has been published in the prestigious British Medical Journal, proposes a new tax on rich foods for the good of the people who consume them. The study, which was conducted by a professor of public health and epidemiology at the University of Birmingham, predicts a drop in heart disease should fatty foods be taxed.

Antismoking compliance not so costly, study finds

Article Abstract:

Antismoking regulations cost smaller restaurants no greater losses than 0.15% in revenues and businesses no greater investments than 0.0002% in revenues. This evidence is contrary to the individuals and tobacco companies that opposed legislation. This information will enable governments to enact even stricter legislation if desired.

Each smoke shortens life 11 minutes: study

Article Abstract:

A new study by researchers at United Kingdom's University of Bristol has found that every cigarette used by smokers shortens their lives by eleven minutes. The study, which was published in the British Medical Journal, found that the average male smoker uses about 311,688 cigarettes in his lifetime.
