Victorian hidden speed camera's have proved advantageous in reducing road casualty's but the whole project has its demerits with the general feeling that the whole project is all about revenue raising and can undermine the public confidence in the system. At times fixed cameras were found to be faulty forcing the government to waive fines and pay compensation totaling almost $30 m to 130,000 motorists.
