Hollinger crisis deepens: Black defiant under scrutiny

Article Abstract:

Conrad Black, chief executive officer of Hollinger International Inc. in Canada, remained defiant despite his forced departure from the company because of $32.2-million (U.S.) worth of unauthorized payments in November 2003. He stated that he had made $50 million with the soaring value of Hollinger International shares, and although he had to take some responsibilities for the mistakes, he blamed others for 'sloppy' reporting that generated erroneous regulatory filings.
