Mass production gets personal

Article Abstract:

This article examines the concept of mass customization as applied by and to the computer industry. Relevant points include the ability of computer manufacturers to build computers to suit almost any specification asked for, the importance of internal specifications to computer vendors, and the customization of electronics such as personal digital assistants, personal stereos, and mobile phones.
