The housing market in some Australian cities such as Melbourne is very good in autumn 2001 despite a global downturn. The market looks set to continue to boom, but if the United States economy does not turn around it may fall flat.

Beware the culture vultures

Article Abstract:

A change to the Australian tax system means that capital gains will no longer be taxed at the same rate as an individual's marginal tax rate. The tax rate for capital gains has therefore been effectively halved.
