Honda to halt Prelude; hybrid Civic planned

Article Abstract:

Honda plans to discontinue production of its sports coupe Prelude after 23 years as the automaker's sportiest vehicle. This is in response to the changing trends in the market and the declining sales of the $24,000-$27,000 Prelude, which was outsold in May 2001 by the $21,000 Honda Insight. Separately, Honda plans to start selling gasoline-electric hybrid-power Civic sedans in the US in Mar 2002. Also, the company plans to offer a version of the Acura MDX sport-utility vehicle.
