Unitel Communications, which is believed to be losing $20 million each month, will receive a $100 million cash infusion from three shareholders: Canadian Pacific, AT&T, and Rogers Communications. Rumors that Rogers will buy a majority interest in the long-distance carrier are probably untrue.

The May 1997 debates did not have a major impact on undecided voters in key ridings in Canada. Jean Charest and Alexa McDonough may have gained some ground, but the Liberals continue to lead. The ridings of Halifax, Brossard, St. Paul's, Calgary West and Port Moody/Coquitlam are discussed.

The right to lie; the Supreme Court acquits Ernst Zundel

Article Abstract:

Ernst Zundel was acquitted on his 1988 conviction for spreading false news that the Holocaust was a Jewish hoax. The court said his right to freedom of expression had been infringed upon. Legislation may be needed to control hate literature.
