Some cities legalize drag racing

Article Abstract:

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles recorded 28 illegal street-racing accidents in the year 1999 that rose to 82 by the year 2003. Stephen Bender, an epidemiologist and professor in the graduate school of public health at San Diego started Race Legal in the year 1998 as a part of University program where competitors would have to wear helmets and submit their cars to safety inspection before the race.
