INQUIRY SUGGESTS PAKISTANIS SOLD NUCLEAR SECRETS

Article Abstract:

US and European intelligence services are exploring the possibility that Abdul Qadeer Khan and his company A.Q. Khan Research Laboratories are responsible for transfering uranium enrichment technology to Iran, North Korea and other countries. Dr. Khan is a highly respected metallurgist in Pakistan and it is difficult for the government of Gen. Pervez Musharraf to challenge his integrity. Various news organizations, including the Washington Post, have filed reports about Khan's links to helping other nations with their development of nuclear weapons. With recent cooperation by Libya to end development of weapons of mass destruction, the C.I.A. is trying to determine what are the sources of weapon technology in various developing countries.
