South African gold giant Gold Fields Ltd. would takeover battle for Iamgold Corp., proposing a stock swap deal to create a top 10 global bullion producers with a market value of about $3.5 billion. The deal would merge Iamgold assets with Gold Fields assets outside its base in southern Africa, creating a company called Gold Fields International Ltd.
