Investor urges MI to become REIT: Major U.S. stakeholder calls for vote of Magna International shareholders

Article Abstract:

New York investment firm, Greenlight Capital Inc., which owns 9.9 percent in MI Developments Inc., which is a real estate company, has called for the breakup of the company and has demanded a shareholders' meeting for voting on the idea. Greenlight Capital Inc. wants the company to sell or spin off its 59-percent stake in its horse racing subsidiary named Magna Entertainment Corp. and convert its other property holdings into a real estate investment trust.
