Facing breakup, Gates to take case to people

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp is stepping up its public relations drive to sway public opinion to its favor. The world's largest software company has lost its case in a district court, which ruled that the company is a monopoly and harmed the competition. Government prosecutors are now calling for the break-up of the company, but the company plans to run a full-page ad in major newspapers to challenge the government's proposal. Chairman Bill Gates said the company will also take its case to a federal appeals court.
