Chilling effects?

The cases of Time's Cooper and Time's Miller are spreading a wave of concern among the journalists against the confidentiality dispute. Similar cases are mentioned, like the Supreme Court's discounted fears of a chilling effect on potential sources when it refused to recognize a reporter's privilege in the Branzburg case in 1972.

Teachers' union sues

The NEA and eight school districts sued the Department of Education contending that it violated an NCLB provision that says states cannot be forced to use their own money to implement the law. Some legal experts revealed that regardless of its merits, the lawsuit could be dismissed on procedural grounds.
