Sao Paolo, Brazil-based Embraer Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica S.A., which is a leading jet manufacturer, believes it is able to compete against Montreal, Que.-based Bombardier Inc. despite a loss of government subsidies. Embraer is led by chief executive officer Mauricio Botelho.

The Canadian government has criticized the Brazilian government's subsidies of Embraer SA, which is a rival aircraft maker of Montreal, Que.-based Bombardier Inc. The trade dispute, which is being heard by the World Trade Organization, threatens to turn into an outright trade war.
