Judge blocks code that unlock DVD encryption

Article Abstract:

A New York state federal judge has enjoined the publisher of Internet World Wide Web site www.2600.org from posting or linking to software a code that unlocks the copy-protection encryption of digital video disc movies. The decision is a key victory in a test case by the entertainment industry against Internet copyright infringement. It is one of the first validations of the 1998 Digital Millenium Copyright Act. Market research firm IDC analyst Malcolm Maclachlan said the ruling would politicize the tech industry as it would have implications for people who write software code.
