Australians can take advantage of tax policies on contributions to retirement funds to earn substantial tax deductions. Deductions especially apply to the self-employed. One particularly effective technique is to transfer funds from other investment accounts into retirement accounts in order to claim them on the end-of-the-year tax returns. Certain tax rebates related to retirement savings are also offered in 1999.
