The Tories are using Major as the centerpiece of their campaign, an unusual move since British elections typically do not focus on personalities.

The UK election has been set for Apr 9, 1992. Handicapped by the recession, the Conservatives may lose power. The most likely scenario is a hung Parliament where the Conservatives and Labour lack a majority. A hung Parliament could lead to a coalition government with the Liberal Democrats.
