Man denies digital piracy in first case under '98 act

Article Abstract:

Russian computer programmer Dmitri Sklyarov and Moscow, Russia-based ElcomSoft have pleaded not guilty to computer crime and conspiracy charges in a case brought by the US Justice Dept. in San Jose, CA. Sklyarov and ElcomSoft will be tried in a precedent-setting case under the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Sklyarov and ElcomSoft are charged for their contribution to Advanced eBook Processor software that can decrypt Adobe Systems' electronic books.

Bankruptcy auction begins for speech technology company

Article Abstract:

Lernout & Hauspie's bankruptcy auction has begun at a New York law office. Bankruptcy courts in Belgium ordered the speech technology company to liquidate and many companies have been scrambling to find capital in order to purchase bargains from the failed concern.
