This article discusses the development and usage of intelligent agents, or computer programs which function as virtual research assistants, sorting and regulating information. Topics include research on intelligent agents being conducted in Australia, current benefits, such as use of the neural network Falcon in the United States which monitors credit card usage, and potential development of artificially intelligent programs for future technologies.

Many Australians who live in areas where Telstra's ADSL service is not yet available are turning to the company's ISDN Home Highway service. The ISDN service is expensive and runs at only 64k bps, vs at least 256k bps for ADSL.
