Middle East Tensions: Waning Washington?

Article Abstract:

The war in Iraq might reduce the US influence in the Middle East. The experts, despite their agreement on the issue that the war may not produce any dramatic changes in a political way of life marked by violence and abrupt transformation, differ on where the big shifts will take place during the next ten years (2006-2016), and what new forces may emerge.

Middle East Tensions: New 'peace process'?

Article Abstract:

The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is encouraging more cooperation between Israel and the Palestinians, since the war in Lebanon ended. Critics of the President George W. Bush demonstration however have argued that the conditions set our by Rice have prevented Hamas from accepting a long-term ceasefire.
