Mobile phone operations lift BCE profit

Article Abstract:

BCE Inc. reported a $386 million profit for the fourth quarter of the year 2003 with reference to strong results from its mobile phone operations but was disappointed by the weak number of data sales. While the areas of strength include residence in local service and strong wireless performance despite increased competition, it shows surprising weakness in data revenue in wholesale and enterprise.

Sun Life venture in India triples assets

Mumbai, India-based Birla Sun Life Asset Management Co., which is a joint venture mutual fund company launched by Toronto, Ont.-based Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada, has reported strong earnings for 1999. Birla Sun Life, which is led by president and chief executive officer Jeremy Beswick, is a unit of New Delhi-based Aditya V. Birla Group.
