Nortel seen flying with new Net gear

Article Abstract:

Nortel Networks Corp's announcement of its new optical network equipment, which would be marketed in 2000, propelled a C$2.20 increase in the Brampton, Ontario-based company's stock on the Toronto Stock Exchange, closing at C$72.85 on Sep 28, 1999. The stock price increase was also attributed to the announcement that UK-based Cable and Wireless Communications PLC and Austin, TX-based IXC Communications Inc intend to utilize Nortel's new gear on their networks.
