Nfld. expected to lead growth

The Royal Bank of Canada has released a new report on economic growth in the provinces. The report, which predicts that Newfoundland and Labrador will experience the highest level of growth, found that high oil prices contributed to strong growth in the energy sector.

Dollar slips as investors favour U.S. currency

Industry analysts said that the Canadian dollar, which is also known as the loonie, dropped in value to 67.45 cents (U.S.) due to a demand for U.S. dollars. Investors flocked to buy the U.S. dollar as the war with Iraq seemed to enter its final stages.

July export gains halt 4-month drop

Article Abstract:

A new report from Statistics Canada showed that Canadian exports rose in July to $32.7 billion for shipped goods. The Statistics Canada report showed a 0.5% gain over June 2003, the first increase in four months.
