Article Abstract:

Exelgyn will not introduce its abortion pill RU-486 in Canada because it has not received an assurance from the government that the drug would be welcome in the country. Company spokesperson Catherine Euvrard said that the company will not submit the product for approval in Canada unless the government submits a formal request. Health Canadaa has earlier stated that its will not ask Exelgyn to submit RU-486 for product approval because it would violate the Food and Drug Act. The abortion pill is currently available in France, Sweden, China and the UK.
