Nortel on the offensive in China

Nortel Networks Corp.'s well-established Chinese unit is blessed by the fact that it is not facing the same kind of media pressure as it faces in North America regarding its struggle with governance and financial challenges. However, the company knows that if it wants to compete in the Chinese market, it needs to have research and development (R&D) capabilities to address the Chinese-specific product requirements.

Canada's two major airlines, Air Canada and WestJet Airlines Ltd., share a relationship of intense rivalry that involves allegations of industrial espionage, double agents and spies rifling through curbside garbage and Internet sites. Such vigorous competition is believed to be the essence of capitalism and ultimately benefits the customers, shareholders and the economy.
