Nortel predicts revenue will jump 30% next year

Article Abstract:

Northern Telecom Ltd. is projecting increase of an estimated 30% in revenue for 1999 as it establishes itself as a one-stop shop for telecommunications equipment. Brampton, Ontario-based Nortel, which earlier acquired Bay Networks Inc. in a C$6.9-billion deal, posted a 20% growth in revenue to $15.45 billion in 1997. Nortel vice-chairman and CEO John Roth said growth will be generated by higher sales of wireless products and strong demand by phone carriers for large-capacity equipment for data traffic.
