Major customers and lenders of Nortel Networks Corp. have remained patient believing that it can revive from a financial scandal that has tarnished its global brand and left the management scrambling to understand its own books. The Brampton Ontario-based Nortel which enjoys a big customer base and strong relationships with many of the world's largest telephone carriers is running on borrowed time, and is in non-compliance with debt obligations and lags in product development

Nortel probe one of Canada's biggest

Article Abstract:

The probe conducted by Integrated Market Enforcement Team (IMET), a white-collar crime unit of RCMP on Nortel Networks Corp., the Brampton Ont.-based telecommunications equipment maker would be one of Canada's largest white-collar crime investigations. The widening scale of the investigations could pose problems for Nortel Networks Corp. in the long run including damaging customer relations and distracting the management from its game plan in a rapidly changing industry.

Nortel accounting woes 'an embarrassment'

Nortel Networks Corp.'s, the telecommunication equipment maker, is facing embarrassment due to its repeated failure to meet its own deadlines for filing results. Hence, it is planning to cut costs, and move aggressively into new markets like China and US to survive in an industry ripe for consolidation.
