Bridging the Time Warner-AOL gap

Warner Bros executive Jim Moloshok is seen by industry observers as the individual that will make the impending merger between Time Warner and America Online work. Moloshok, who is the president of Time Warner's Entertaindom and a co-founder of Warner Bros. Online, is noted for his long history of cooperative work with AOL. Moloshok's future role in the merged company will be to bridge the two firms' diverse cultures.

'Dealmaker' hopes to revive 'Lampoon'

Article Abstract:

J2 Communications' hostile takeover by millionaire Dan Laikin is scheduled to be completed on Jun 30, 2001. Laikin's takeover plan includes reviving the magazine National Lampoon, which is owned by the Los Angeles, CA-based company. The magazine is not published anymore and attempts to revive it have failed. However, Laikin believes National Lampoon's brand can attract young comedy writers, and the magazine's around 250 back issues have plenty of material to be turned into movie scripts.

Not a johnny-come-latte: For years Starbucks has grown like gangbusters

Howard Schultz, founder and chairman of Starbucks discusses about growing a company, even during recession and even where it seems like there is already a Starbucks at every corner. Starbucks posted its 140th consecutive month of sales growth in August 2003 in the United States by offering an eclectic array of products and services in addition to its ever-expanding menu of coffee and tea drinks in 2003.
