OPEC moves to ease fears of oil crunch: Benchmark contract plummets to $42.83; gasoline futures fall even more sharply

Article Abstract:

Oil prices were pushed into full-fledged retreat as OPEC rushed to reassure global markets in 2004. The benchmark contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange dropped $1.32 a barrel to 42.83 with gasoline futures.

Higher heating bills expected as crude barrels past $52 mark

Article Abstract:

The soaring crude prices are making the cost of running oil and gas furnaces high for the consumers. The U.S. Department of Energy stated that inventories of heating oil had fallen that pushed oil past the $52 (U.S.) a barrel mark and further into record territory.
