OSC strike against fund industry just first volley in wider crackdown

Article Abstract:

The Ontario Securities Commission's (OSC) strike against mutual fund industry it could target as many as 20 more fund companies for in-depth reviews as part of the most extensive probe in its history. Michael Watson OSC enforcement director stated that the regulator would target those companies where it is most likely to find evidence of rapid, in and out trading in their funds, activity characteristic of market timing.

Proposed governance rules get broad support

Article Abstract:

David Brown, the chairman of the Ontario Securities Commission, said that almost every Canadian regulator is supporting his rules for corporate governance. Only British Columbia has yet to express support for the rules.
