Oil industry has little margin for error

Article Abstract:

The recent sudden and sharp increases in the prices of gasoline may turn out not to be a temporary occurence but one which could become a regularly occurring event that will affect US motorists. The cause of the price spikes according to analysts is the energy distribution system of the US, a system which has become very complex such that any disruption can result in higher prices. The disruptions can be caused by pipeline disasters, the malfunction of refinery equipment and other factors.
