Onex to buy U.S. manufacturer

Conglomerate corporation Onex Corp of Toronto, Canada, will acquire metal-building maker American Buildings Co. of Eufaula, GA, for $36 a share, or a total of $405 million. American Buildings Co, which manufactures metal buildings, roofings and door systems, posted a profit of $14.6 million on sales of $441 million in 1998. Onex owns stakes in diverse industries including Dura Automotive Systems Inc, computer equipment maker Celestica Inc, film production outfit Phoenix Pictures and airline caterer Sky Chefs Inc.

Onex buys control of U.S. auto parts firm

Article Abstract:

J.L. French Automotive Castings Inc of Sheybogan, WI, will sell a 51% stake to Onex Corp of Toronto for C$135 million. French Automotive manufactures aluminum die-cast auto parts, and has two production plants in Sheboygan, WI, one in Spain and five in the UK. The company posts an annual revenues of C$450 million. Holding company Onex Corp acquired French Automotive through its Minneapolis, MN-based automotive investment division Hidden Creek International.
