Our restored cities, where the living is easier

Article Abstract:

Chattanooga, TN's revitalization is an excellent example of how businesses and communities can restore the urban vibrancy that helped their cities to develop. The city's urban renewal effort began in 1981. Univ of Tennessee professor of architecture Stroud Watson helped design mixed-used areas to sustain its economic and social lifelines. The creation of the Tennessee Aquarium and a new mass-transit system contributed to encouraging people to spend time and money in downtown areas.
