Both Irving and the McCain brothers built large business empires in New Brunswick, but they differ in their handling of succession and tax liabilities. Irving left a carefully planned will that forced his three sons to establish residency in Bermuda and focus on corporate goals.

Family feud: a fight between the McCain brothers threatens their food empire

Wallace McCain filed a lawsuit against his brother Harrison McCain in an attempt to remain as president of McCain Foods Ltd. The family-owned holding company voted that Wallace should step down from his position by Sep 30, 1993. The feud is primarily about succession.

McCain wars: end of a family firm
