Peter Costigan, Mayor

Article Abstract:

The mayor of Melbourne, Australia, Peter Costigan, brings an unusual professional and family background to the office. He is a former journalist who used to report on Wash D.C., and Canberra, Australia. His Roman Catholic family produced two priests and two nuns. Costigan reveres Melbourne, however, and pays tribute to its design and gardens. He believes in its potential as a business capital and aims as a politician to bring its diverse population together.
