Executive producer Mark Starowicz, 50, has been working at CBC for more than 25 years and his latest effort is a five-part series about the television news industry called 'Dawn of the Eye.' He has also produced 'As it Happens' 'Sunday Morning' and 'The Journal.' He discusses his life and career.

Back to Ottawa: a veteran Tory politician heads the CBC

Article Abstract:

Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, in a surprise move, appointed former Tory cabinet minister Perrin Beatty to head the CBC. Beatty will replace Anthony Manera, who quit Feb 28, 1995, in protest over drastic CBC budget cuts. Reaction to Beatty's appointment was mixed.

Eleven Canadian UN peacekeeping soldiers captured by the Bosnian Serbs are reportedly in good health but efforts to free than have been unsuccessful. The rescue efforts so far, and the attitudes of the Bosnia Serbs are discussed.
