Pix, lies and videotape

Article Abstract:

Kathleen Petyarre was regarded as the most important Aboriginal painter in Australia, but a controversy has erupted alleging that her award-winning painting was the idea of her former husband, a non-Aborigine. Petyarre acknowledges that he had helped her with the painting, but she painted over some of his work to make it look better. Collectors have stopped buying her paintings and some contend that her career is over unless this controversy is resolved.
