Plaintree shares soar on plans to amalgamate

Article Abstract:

Plaintree Systems Inc of Stittsville, Ontario, has announced a deal to merge with Targa Group of Nepean, Ontario. Privately-held Targa is a developer and producer of electronic equipment, mostly for aerospace companies. Under the deal, PlainTree will acquire all of Targa's four divisions while Targa shareholders will acquire 49% of Plaintree's stock. The deal would require the approval of Plaintree shareholders and the conversion of Plaintree's outstanding preferred shares to common shares.
