Pregnancy Created Using Egg Nucleus Of Infertile Woman

Article Abstract:

Sun Yat-sen University physicians in China have succeeded in impregnating an infertile woman by the means of nuclear transfer. This is an experimental process that involves transferring the nucleus of a fertilized ovum into the healthier egg of another woman whose egg's nucleus has been removed. The second egg is transferred back to the woman who wants to be pregnant. Despite China's ban on the procedure, doctors reject the criticism that it is a form of human cloning. They believe it gives women with inferior genes an opportunity to bear their own children.
