Psychometric testing of the revised 15-item Bakas Caregiving Outcomes Scale

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to psychometrically test the revised 15-item Bakas Caregiving Outcomes Scale (BCOS) measuring life changes specifically resulting from providing care, using a sample of 147 family caregivers. The revised 15-item BCOS showed improvement over the original 10-item instrument, as well as greater internal consistency reliability and stronger criterion-related validity.

Pessimism and optimism as early warning signs for compromised health for caregivers of patients with Parkinson's disease

Article Abstract:

The study aims to determine whether pessimism and optimism can be used as early warning signs for negative changes in caregiver depressive symptoms and physical health over a 10-year period. It is concluded that nurses and clinicians have a unique opportunity to detect and intervene with caregivers who show high levels of pessimism early in the caregiving trajectory.
