Article Abstract:
The two-decade long process of dismantling the mental health system in Australia has led to an alarming increase in cases of the number of mentally ill patients taking their lives and statistics reveal that at least 500 hundred patients commit suicide every year. Observers point out that most of the mental care institutes have given way to luxury apartments or condominiums and very little of the proceeds have been ploughed back into the service and urgent steps are required to arrest the slide.

Valley of the king makers
Article Abstract:
The Australian Labor Party leader who is considered the party's knight in shining armor earned his spurs in Green Valley which he left in 1983 after rising up the ranks. The then very young leader was a socialist who wanted to lead his residents out of the suburbs into social-democratic uplands a term used by him but, when queried about this his supporters say talk about compulsions of politics.
