Article Abstract:

Annual US production of biodiesel (biofuel) has increased 75-fold, from 1 million gallons in 1999 to 75 million gallons in 2005, produced almost entirely from soybeans. The National Biodiesel Board, a trade group, stated that that as of mid-2006 there were 65 companies producing this fuel and another 50, either building or contemplating plants.
