Rupert Murdoch's bid to buy satellite TV firm DirecTV from General Motors is part of his bold plan to create a global satellite TV empire controlled by his News Corp. Murdoch also plans to badge his huge satellite portfolio as Sky Global, in what could be the biggest ever media offering.
