Rethinking the PC: by eliminating the frills, Larry Ellison has designed a $500 computer for the Internet

Article Abstract:

Oracle Corp head Larry Ellison has developed a low-cost computer that will allow Internet access, e-mail capability and word processing. The machine can be made for a cost of less than $300. Oracle will be competing with Microsoft's Bill Gates, who has criticized the inexpensive computer.

A new plan for pensions

James Pesando's plan for privatizing the Canadian Pension Plan (CPP) is more complicated but more equitable than the privatization plan proposed by the Liberal Party. Pesanto's plan would direct only money from a rate hike into a mandatory registered retirement savings plan system.
