Revenge: Ottawa folds its cards and apologizes to Mulroney

The Canadian government apologized to Mulroney on Jan 5, 1997, and agreed to pay his legal costs. The settlement came only a week before the libel trial filed by Mulroney was scheduled to start. The government fell apart after investigator Fraser Fiegenwald admitted he leaked the scandal to the press.
