Rising gas prices spur calls for national boycott

Article Abstract:

Consumers are being exhorted by various groups to boycott gasoline stations from Apr 7, 2000, to Apr 9, 2000, to protest increasing gas prices. Prices for regular gas have surged from an average 91 cents per gallon in Feb 1999 to $1.50 in Mar 2000 after members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries cut oil production. The Energy Information Agency of the Energy Dept has warned that prices could jump to $1.80 in summer 2000.
