Royal Group shares lifted--to a point

Royal Group Technologies Ltd.'s shares experienced a short rally on May 6, 2003 after the company said it would cut its consumer products operations. Royal Group's shares rose 9 cents to $9.45 per share on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The company was also helped by higher than expected sales for the second quarter.

Destructive computer worm targets financial institutions

Computer security experts, such as those at Symantec Corp.'s Canadian operations, reported that a computer worm infected up to 1,375 financial firms worldwide. The computer worm, which has been named Bugbear.b and is spread via email, poses a threat to the financial services sector by taking over key files.

Women's group fails despite 'best intentions'
