Royal Host quits bitter takeover battle for CHIP

Article Abstract:

Royal Host Real Estate Investment Trust has called off its plan to acquire all the units of Canadian Hotel Income Properties (CHIP) of Vancouver, British Columbia. The planned takeover was abandoned following the approval of CHIP unitholders to sell 5 million units at C$10 each to the Belkin family, which made the investment through the family holding company Belkorp Industries Inc. The acquisition has made the Belkin family the largest unitholder in CHIP with a 34% equity stake.
